The Adventure Park at Storrs is an “aerial forest ropes park” consisting of about 80 platforms installed in the trees and connected by various configurations of cable, wood, and rope to form bridges and zip lines.

Groups of these bridges or “elements” link together to form separate courses though the trees. Although every course has zip lines on them, there is much more fun than just zip lining to be had! There are seven courses in total, for ages seven to adult, with challenge levels suitable for every age and skill level–from beginner to expert. Each person selects the course(s) they want and climbs at their own pace.

All our participants receive a thorough briefing before climbing and wear safety harnesses clipped to safety cables throughout their time in the trees. Our staff is available throughout the Park to answer questions or assist whenever desired.

The Adventure Park is all about active participation as there are no motorized rides in the park. The trails are designed for everyone to enjoy, and designated as Yellow, Green, Blue and Black–similar to ski trails. As one progresses through the difficulty levels, the bridges require more balance, agility, focus and arm strength. Your time in the park is not a heart pumping activity and you do not have to be a body builder to make it through the trails. Kids, teens, adults and seniors find their comfort zone and seek greater challenges when they choose. There is no ‘correct’ way of crossing the bridges. Each bridge calls upon the climber to find his or her own mix of strategy, balance and strength to proceed from platform to platform.

Other than park rules, the only requirement we have is that your harness be properly worn and you are always attached by one of your carabineers (safety clips) to the safety cables on and between each platform. Our staff will show you how to use the equipment. The Adventure Park employs an “always locked on” climbing system, which utilizes interlocking carabineers. This innovative safety system virtually eliminates the potential of a climber becoming detached from a safety line while in the trees.

  • What trails are kids allowed to climb by age?

  • What are the ticket prices?

  • Is a ticket required to watch my friends/family climb?

    Tickets are only required for guests who are climbing.  Observers are always welcome in the park.

  • What is the time duration of the ticket?

    General Admission Tickets in the Park are valid for two or three hours.  You are encouraged to be prepared prior to buying your tickets (i.e. restrooms, snacks and dressed properly) so you can maximize your time in the park. Ticket sales end one and a half hours  before closing but if purchasing a ticket this late in the day, you will not get a full 2 hours hours of climbing.  More difficult courses will begin to shut down for closing time.

  • Are reservations required?

    Reservations are strongly recommended for general admission.  Walk-ins are welcome but may only be accommodated on a space available basis. Groups of 10 or more are encouraged to make  reservations 2 weeks in advance in order to receive group pricing and guaranteed access to climbing harnesses.   • What clothing should I wear?

    Wear fitted clothing that does not allow anything to hang loose or get tangled in cables and rope. Long hair should be in hair tie, and jewelry should not be left loose.  Sneakers or hiking shoes are recommended. Flip-flops, open toe shoes and sandals are not acceptable.

  • What equipment is provided?

    A harness and gloves are provided with your admission ticket. New gloves are also available for purchase.

  • Is there a height, age or weight restriction?

    There is no height restriction for the ropes courses and zip lines. The trails are for ages 7 to adult.  Age restrictions apply to each level of difficulty.  For example, 7 and 9 year old children can use the yellow trail  with supervision but need to be accompanied by an adult on the green trail (1 adult per 2 children).  You must be 10 years of age to use the blue trails with adult participation. Whenever adult participation is required the 1:2 adult/child ratio must be met.  Regarding a weight restriction, the limit is 265 pounds.  Creative play areas are provided for our future ziplining youth younger than 7 years old.

  • Do I have to be really fit to do the trail?

    Most people that lead an active lifestyle and are in good health should not have any difficulty in completing many of the trails. You are able to proceed at a pace that is comfortable to you. You are also welcome to leave the ropes course and take a break. Unlike the yellow and green trails, the black trails are very challenging.

  • How difficult are the trails?

    The trails range from easier (yellow) to advanced (black diamond).  Relative to each persons ability, the trails are very manageable but become more physically challenging as you progress to more difficult trails. If you have not been up in the air before you may be unsettled at first about being 10 feet above the ground on a yellow trails or 20 feet above the ground at points on a green trails. Our highest point is currently 45 feet off the ground.  Very quickly you will begin to have fun with the challenges and the height above the ground will not be your main focus. Your focus becomes being balanced and efficient on each bridge you are crossing. You will be secure and safe in your harness as long as you are Always Attached. Being attached to your lifeline is the most important requirement to remember and you are responsible to be Always Attached.

  • Can the Ropes Course operate in the rain?

    The Adventure Park can still be fun while it is raining. However, the park will close for severe weather such as heavy rain, thunderstorms and high winds. If small storm systems are moving through the area we try to stay open and ask our guests to take a break while they pass. Call before you travel to confirm the operating schedule.

  • Is the Adventure Park certified?

    Designed by Swiss alpine mountaineers, The Park is built to the standards of the ACCT (Association of Challenge Course Technology) specifications, among the most stringent ropes course safety standards in the world.   • What food services are available?

    The Park operates a small Retail Adventure Store on site which sells cold beverages, snack items and souvenirs. For groups, we can provide suggestions on local pizza delivery options as well as restaurants which can deliver to the park.

  • Are we allowed to bring our own food?

    Yes! Make a day of your adventure, there is picnic spaces available at The Park. 

  • Is there a fee for parking?

    No, parking is free for all guests.

  • Are private or group lessons available?

All participants will be provided adequate training, so lessons are not required. If desired, arrangements can be made in advance to hire a guide. If interested, please call ahead to schedule.  More information about guides can be found on our Guide FAQ page.

  • Do you offer season passes?

Yes.  A season pass may be purchased at the park, online or by contacting the office at (860)-946-0606.

  • Are Adventure Park gift certificates available?

    Yes, they can be purchased at the Adventure Park and online.

  • What are the driving directions?

  • What hotel accommodations are available nearby?

  • Weather Policy

The Adventure Park is Open Rain or Shine, so we recommend dressing for the weather! In the event of severe weather (such as thunder, lightning, or high winds) the courses may close. Although we are unable to offer refunds, in the event of a park closure, Rain Check Vouchers will be made available for you to use towards future climbs that season!
